Anyone traveling to the United States by plane “will need to test before they get onto that plane before they depart and quarantine when they arrive in America. The testing requirement was announced by the previous administration of Donald Trump, but quarantine was only a recommendation. Also signed an executive order requiring masks to be worn on airplanes, trains, buses and at airports as coronavirus infections continue to climb.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had previously announced the international testing requirement to begin Jan. 26th, but a quarantine element would be new. Biden did not specify how long new arrivals would have to quarantine, though the CDC has recently shortened its recommended period from 14 to 10 days.
The official details around the quarantine after international travel—including when it will go into effect—are under review by a number of federal agencies that deal with air travel and public health.
From Sunday anyone wishing to enter France – even if traveling from within the EU – will need a negative Covid test. The rule applies to arrivals by air, road, sea or rail. The only exceptions to this are cross-border workers and hauliers.
Anyone entering France from outside the EU already needs to abide by strict regulations that ban all non-essential travel and require both a Covid test and a seven-day quarantine once in France. Until now, however, arrivals from within the EU or Schengen zone were not subject to any restrictions.
The government specified that this must be a PCR test, the rapid-result antigen tests on offer at many pharmacies will not be accepted.
Unlike arrivals from outside the EU, European travelers will not have to quarantine once in France.
